Painting-on-chip

Painting-on-Chip (PoC) is an experimental artwork created on a microchip measuring 1 mm × 0.5 mm.
PoC can only be seen through a microscope. Its “canvas” is a silicon wafer, and its “colors” are metal layers.
The artwork explores the difficulty of true communication. It depicts two entities with disproportionate hands and feet, symbolizing the challenges of connecting in modern times.

In PoC, the two entities attempt to communicate despite their differences. Eventually, the acoustic waves from their mouths interfere constructively, strengthening the signal and enabling communication.

The artwork was fabricated via EUROPRACTICE MPW using an AMS 0.35 µm CMOS process.
