Face to Face

Face to face, they promised to love each other.
The ‘connection’ between the two figures retraces the curve used to prove the Beta function.
This special function, shown of the top of the painting, is also known as the Euler integral of the first kind.
The Beta function is closely related to the Gamma function, also known as the Euler integral of the second kind.
These two functions are employed in many different applications.
For instance, the Gamma
function is used to model the distribution of seismic events.
Instead, the Beta function can be used to model the time required to complete a task.
Now, what about the two lovers in the painting?
Is it possible to model the distribution of their heartbeats?
Can we model the time required to complete a hug? a kiss? a relationship?
